Police destroy 30,000 ganja plants

Ranks of the Guyana Police Force recently destroyed several fields of marijuana plants during a drug eradication operation.

The exercise was carried out at Yarrowkabra on the Soesdyke/Linden Highway, during which eight fields of cultivated cannabis and a camp were found. They were all destroyed by fire.

According to the Police, the plants which were estimated to be approximately

 30,000 were between five to six feet in height. In addition, four nurseries with several thousand seedlings were uncovered and also destroyed.

Preliminary investigations have not lead to any arrests but the probe continues.
