A 10-hour narcotics eradication operation conducted by ranks of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) at Ebeni, Berbice River on Saturday saw the discovery and destruction of five thousand ganja plants ranging from 12 inches to four feet in height.

In addition, a camp and a nursery with an estimated 3000 seedlings were also destroyed.
Also, on Saturday, ranks swooped down on a motor car on the Number 59 Village Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice and discovered a large quantity of suspected cannabis wrapped in several plastic parcels.
It was reported that ranks of the mobile patrol were acting on information received when they intercepted the motor car.

Upon searching the vehicle, the lawmen discovered 15 parcels of suspected cannabis, weighing 13.607 kilograms in total.
A 40-year-old driver of New Amsterdam, Berbice, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle at the time of the search, was arrested.
He is currently in Police custody pending charges.
