A 21-year-old labourer of Stanleytown, New Amsterdam Berbice was arrested on Thursday following a narcotics eradication exercise conducted in Berbice riverine communities.
Based on reports received, Police travelled to Gaettroy and De Veldt, communities in the Berbice River, where approximately three acres of cultivated cannabis, with more than thirteen thousand plants measuring between six inches and two feet in height, were found.
In addition, a nursery with about 3000 seedlings and 15 pounds of dried ganja, and five camps were also found and destroyed.
The young man in detention was found in one of the fields, and as such was arrested.
Investigations are ongoing.
