Police destroy over 2000 ‘ganja’ plants in Berbice River

Ranks of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) during an eight-hour narcotics eradication operation at Ebini and Bartica Village, Upper Berbice River, found and destroyed several acres of cannabis cultivation on Saturday.

According to Police, more than 2000 plants and approximately 10,000 kilograms of dried cannabis and a camp were destroyed in the process.
The current street value of the narcotics destroyed is $21,022,800.
Just two weeks ago, several fields of cannabis were found and destroyed by ranks of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) after the lawmen conducted an eradication exercise that lasted almost 14 hours.

According to the police, while at the Gaettroy village located in the Berbice River, the ranks discovered more than an acre of cultivation with over 4000 marijuana plants ranging from two to four feet in height.
A makeshift tent was also at that location.
They subsequently destroyed the ‘ganja’ fields, plants and tent by fire.
