A 29-year-old unemployed male was on Thursday afternoon arrested after Police ranks discovered 1100 grams of illicit narcotics strapped to his body after they stopped and searched passengers who were in a public minibus destined for Mahdia, Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni).
The discovery was made around 17:45h when ranks on duty at the Mabura Police Outpost (Check Point) conducted searches on passengers of a route 72 minibus, bearing licence plates BTT 9966.
Police Constable Peters then proceeded to search Marvin Daniels of Levi Dam Angoy’s Avenue New Amsterdam, Berbice, since he was acting in a suspicious manner.
During the search, the rank discovered Daniels had four black plastic bags with leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis, strapped to both of his legs. The rank told him of the offence committed, arrested and cautioned him. Daniels admitted ownership of the suspected narcotic and claimed that he is a ‘hustler’. The suspected narcotic was weighed in his presence and amounted to 1100 grams.
Daniels was placed into Police custody and is being processed for court.
