Police find cocaine, ganja at EBE house

Police in Regional Divisional Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) on Thursday unearthed a quantity of cocaine and marijuana at an abandoned house at Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo.
At about 17:00h, a party of policemen, acting on intelligence, went to the two-storey wooden abandoned building, where a search was conducted. In the lower flat of the house, the officers met a 45-year-old man who hails from Uitvlugt New Scheme, West Coast Demerara.

The cocaine and marijuana that were found at Vergenoegen

A search was carried out on the premises in his presence and a large black bulky plastic bag was found which contained Cannabis sativa, along with another black plastic bag containing cocaine.
He admitted ownership of the narcotics and was taken to the Leonora Police Station along with the narcotics where the cannabis and cocaine were weighed in his presence. The cannabis amounted to 3558 grams while the cocaine amounted to 242 grams.
The suspect was placed into custody pending charges.
Only two days ago, Police went to Bourda Street, Georgetown, where a 29-year-old male was searched and a cigarette pack was found in the crotch of his pants which contained a quantity of whitish rock-like substance weighing 3.9 grams suspected to be cocaine. (G9)
