Ranks of Regional Division One (Barima-Waini) have arrested two persons after finding an illegal firearm at a mining camp in the region.
According to reports from the Guyana Police Force, officers from the Arakaka Police Station received information in relation to an alleged simple larceny report and went to two mining camps in the area.
They raided one camp at Kamwatta, North West District (NWD) and another one at Skull Mountain, Arakaka.
During the Police operation, the ranks unearthed one unlicensed 12-gauge shotgun. The weapon, which was found next to a bed at the camp, did not have any cartridges.
The ranks arrested two suspects, who are presently in custody pending further investigations. (G8)
