As investigations continue into the gunning down of 29-year-old Paul Rodney, who was killed in the wee hours of Monday, Police have identified two prime suspects, based on information gathered.

A Division Commander Clifton Hicken on Tuesday confirmed that since Monday night, about five homes in the capital city, Georgetown, were searched by law enforcement ranks as they pursued the main perpetrators of the brutal killing. Hicken also revealed that CCTV footage that was gathered was being used to assist the investigations.
The lifeless body of Rodney, also called “Shirts”, of Lot 530 West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was discovered at Avocado Square, East Ruimveldt, Georgetown about 02:45h Monday following an altercation with a group of men at a function in the area.
Reports indicated that the man’s body was ridden with bullets by two men on a motorcycle. Rodney was discovered by Police who were on a mobile patrol in the area. Upon their arrival, a group of men was observed running as they discharged several rounds into the air. Rodney was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
While relatives of the dead man indicated that they had no knowledge of Rodney being involved in criminal activities, the Police have claimed that Rodney was a known character to them and had several brushes with the law.
Meanwhile, detectives have recovered several spent shells at the scene that belonged to a small-calibre weapon.
