Police hunting “One Eye” for beating farmer over rumours

Ranks of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) are on the hunt for a Bush Lot, Corentyne man known as “One Eye”, who severely injured another villager over spreading rumours.
Injured is Pooran Prashad, a 39-year-old farmer, also of Bush Lot Village.
According to Police reports, Prashad received information that the suspect was spreading rumours about him in the village and as a result, confronted the suspect sometime around 18:00h on Friday, which led to an argument.
This resulted in the suspect running into the Prashad’s yard, arming himself with a 2×4 piece of wood and dealing the victim several lashes about his right forearm, causing him to receive multiple injuries.
Following the incident, Prashad reported the matter to the Whim Police Station and was escorted to the Port Mourant Public Hospital for medical treatment. He was later transferred and admitted to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital for further medical attention.
Investigations are ongoing.
