Police issue wanted bulletin for murder suspect

The Police have issued a wanted bulletin for Begong Fakaud for questioning in relation to the murder of Shemar Drakes, of Bartica, who was chopped to death at Suewanda Backdam, Puruni River, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni).
The murder reportedly took place on June 6, 2021 following a misunderstanding between the now dead man and the suspect over a woman.
It was reported that the suspect and the now dead man were in a relationship with the same woman and on the day in question, they both ‘reached up’ at the woman’s house.

Upon seeing each other, an argument broke out between the men during which the suspect dealt Drakes several punches about his body. In retaliation, Drakes reportedly armed himself with a bat with which he lashed the suspect several times. Persons who saw the altercation reportedly intervened and parted the combatants.
However, the two men ended up meeting at a shop and an argument broke out once again. It was then Fakaud attacked Drakes from behind with a cutlass and chopped him several times to his abdomen.
Drakes reportedly attempted to escape the attack, but eventually collapsed a short distance from the shop. His body was discovered the following day. The Police were contacted and following an investigation, the identity of the suspect was determined.
The Police are asking anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of Fakaud to contact law enforcement on 620-6836, 268-2298, 226-4701, 661-5870, 911 or the nearest Police Station. All information will be treated with the strictest confidentiality.
