Police issues wanted bulletin for suspect in fatal Vigilance shooting

Wanted: Tyrese Chester

Days after 38-year-old Shawn Edwards of South Vigilance, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was shot and killed, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) has issued a wanted bulletin for 30-year-old Tyrese Chester.
Edwards was reportedly found lying on the roadway at Vigilance, ECD, with a gunshot injury to his abdomen on Monday.
It was reported that Edwards was discovered at about 16:30h and was rushed to the Enmore Regional Hospital, where he was treated and transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Following the incident, an investigation was launched, and based on CCTV footage collected and reviewed from the area, Chester was identified as the prime suspect. Guyana Times understands that the shooting might be gang-related.
Police are asking anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of Chester to contact the nearest Police Station or call 911.
This shooting comes a day after 22-year-old Cordel August, a wash bay attendant from Strathspey, ECD, and 35-year-old shop owner Aeon Headley from Vigilance, South, were shot and killed during a drive-by shooting.
It was reported that the duo was among a group gathered at a shop owned by Headley at about 22:00h when two men dressed in black arrived on a motorcycle and allegedly opened fire in their direction.
Both victims sustained gunshot injuries and were rushed to the Enmore Regional Hospital by public-spirited citizens, where they were pronounced dead on arrival. No arrests were made for that fatal attack.
