Police kill armed bandit following robbery

A 19-year-old was shot and killed by Police on Saturday morning, hours after he robbed and assaulted a Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) couple at their home.
Dead is Noel Kissoon, called “Kevin”, of Lot 808 Zeelugt New Housing Scheme, EBE. He was killed during a confrontation with lawmen, who had gone to his home to arrest him for the robbery.

According to reports, a Zeelugt, EBE husband and wife were at home in their veranda relaxing at about 19:00h on Friday, when the lone gunman pounced on them. During the ordeal, the bandit was able to relieve the couple of an undisclosed sum of cash, four cellphones, two gold bands and a finger ring. He then gun butted both victims on their head before escaping.
The matter was reported to the Police and the couple was taken to seek medical attention. They were treated and sent away.
Meanwhile, at about 05:45h on Saturday morning, acting on information received, a party of Policemen went to the suspect’s home. However, upon their arrival, Kissoon came outside brandishing a handgun and he pointed the weapon in the direction of the ranks reportedly in a “menacing manner”.
The ranks on scene opened fire, discharging a round that hit the teenager in the lower region of his abdomen. He was rushed to the Leonora Cottage Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival (DOA).
It was reported that the ring, which the female victim was relieved of during the robbery on Friday night, was found on the dead man’s finger, while the other stolen items except the cash were found in his Zeelugt house.
According to the Police, Kissoon was a known character and had been previously convicted for breaking and entering and larceny.
Moreover, at the time of his death, the teenager had four pending matters before the court for robbery under arms, rape, and possession of narcotics. Additionally, he was wanted for several recent robberies and also for an alleged indecent assault of a female.
The body of 19-year-old Kissoon is presently at the Ezekiel Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination, which is expected to be conducted on Monday.
