An intelligence-led operation at Moco Moco in Central Rupununi, Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo) on Wednesday led Police ranks to two separate cannabis fields.
Reports are that ranks of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) initiated their operation in the early morning hours at Moco Moco. The ranks swooped down on a 23-year-old farmer, whose house was searched leading to the discovery of 314 grams of cannabis. The suspect also led the Police to his farm, where a field containing 30 cannabis plants was cultivated. Each plant measured between five and seven feet in height.
Meanwhile, a 59-year-old farmer was also arrested at his camp with three unlicensed shotguns. A search of his farm unearthed 41 cannabis plants measuring between one foot and five feet in height.
The plants were photographed and destroyed by fire. The suspects were taken into custody and charges would follow.
