Ranks of Regional Division Three recorded 20 traffic cases during a White Light Campaign conducted at several locations along the East Bank Essequibo (EBE) and West Coast Demerara (WCD) on Friday.
During the exercises, police stopped and examined several motor vehicles, resulting in cases being recorded for various traffic offences.
Of the 20 cases, 16 were for breaches of prescribed conditions as to fitness, while one involved an obscured identification mark and another an unlicensed motor vehicle. Two cases were also recorded for dangerous driving.
Additionally, four persons were arrested and two summonses were issued during one of the exercises.
The campaign is part of the Guyana Police Force’s (GPF) ongoing efforts to promote road safety, enforce traffic laws and reduce road accidents.
The Police Force is urging motorists to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy, observe speed limits and comply with traffic laws.
Motorists are also being encouraged to exercise patience and caution while using the nation’s roadways, with police warning that reckless and dangerous driving can result in serious consequences.
