Police seeking help to ID dead man

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) is seeking the assistance of the public in identifying a male who was found unconscious at Wismar, Linden in Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice), on Monday and later died.

According to the Police, the deceased had several tattoos – one on the inner thigh that spelt “SEMDEL” and a sign; another on the left side of the stomach of a hand gun with magazine and three bullets; a cannabis plant on the upper right hand and “BLOOD SAAN FOVER” on the left hand.
Investigators suspect that the dead man was murdered.
The man was discovered unconscious in some bushes at Prosville Squatting Area, Wismar, around 22:55h on Monday. At the time, he was clad in a white and grey t-shirt and red short pants.
Guyana Times understands that the man was bleeding from his nostrils and the back of his head was swollen when he was found by residents passing by. He was taken to the Linden Hospital Complex (LHC), where he subsequently died at approximately 00:50h at on Tuesday.
According to reports, around 17:00h on Monday, the now deceased had visited a food shop situated in the Prosville Squatting Area, where he requested a roti which was given to him.
He then reportedly took out three cellular phones from his pants pocket and began boasting that he “got money”. The man was told by the salesperson to pay for the roti, but he went away without doing do.
The body remains at the LHC awaiting a post-mortem examination.
The cellphones which he reportedly had in his possession prior to his death were not recovered at the scene.
Police in Linden say persons in the area were questioned, but no useful information was obtained.
The investigation continues.
