Almost a week after the incident, Police on the East Coast of Demerara (ECD) are still hunting for two suspects following a commercial robbery at the Celltronicx Store at Mon Repos on the ECD.
Regional Division Commander Andries Junor has confirmed that Police have not been able to identify the men who were involved in the robbery.
On Monday, the two men entered the store pretending to be customers, and as one
of the employees was about to assist them, one of the suspects whipped out a handgun and demanded that the staff remain quiet.
One of the men held a female staffer at gunpoint, before escorting her further into the store. The female victim and a male employee were placed to lie on the floor, as one of the bandits entered the office.
The suspects were seen in a CCTV footage emptying the glass cases in the store, which were filled with cellphones. The two employees were also gun-butted in the process.
Imran Ali, owner of the store, told reporters that the men escaped with over 20 cellular phones and about $1 million in cases.
Investigations are still ongoing.
