More marijuana camps were destroyed and a quantity of ammunition retrieved at 7 Miles, Millie’s Hideout, Upper Demerara on Wednesday as Police ranks in E Division (Linden-Kwakwani) continued a mass drug eradication exercise.

One person has since been arrested and taken into Police custody following the exercise, which was conducted between 06:00h and 13:00h. The Police destroyed eight fields totalling 13 acres, which contained some 15,000 marijuana plants ranging from two to seven-and-a-half feet.

A nursery containing about 3000 seedlings and 1500 kilograms of dried cannabis, which was already processed, was also discovered. A total of five camps were discovered at the location. Additionally, Police found five live 12-gauge cartridges, three 12-gauge empty casings and a 1.45 spent shell.
A farmer of Kuru Kuru, Linden-Soesdyke Highway, who was discovered on the first farm, has since been arrested. The farmer, who was allegedly tending to the marijuana plants at the time of the discovery, reportedly took ranks to the other farms. He has since been processed for court.
