Police yet to arrest suspect for neighbour’s murder

Almost two months after the shooting death of 59-year-old Florence Ford at West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, the suspect, 18-year-old Timothy Evans is yet to be arrested by the Police for the heinous crime.

Ford, of Lot 24 Front Road, West Ruimveldt, was shot in the left eye after she left her house to check on a commotion between the suspect and another neighbour.

It was reported that on the day in question, at approximately 01:30h, the dead woman’s neighbour Brian Wiltshire and the suspect were engaged in a heated argument over a motorcycle. After hearing the argument between the two

men, Ford left her home to make enquiries.
However, the argument turned into a scuffle which saw both men drawing weapons – one a cutlass and the other a handgun. In the heated moment, Evans reportedly discharged several rounds, hitting Wiltshire to the right side of his chest and a stray bullet caught Ford in the left eye.
The injured persons were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where they were examined by doctors. Ford, however, succumbed to her injuries.
Meanwhile, the suspect made good his escape and has not been seen since.
One day after the fatal shooting, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) issued a wanted bulletin for his arrest.
At the time, the Police had stated that anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of Evans is asked to contact the Police on telephone numbers 226-1389, 227-2128, 911 or at the nearest Police Station.
