That community has been hard hit by the pandemic restrictions.
The closing of many businesses which are considered as non-essential resulted in many persons from that community being out of a job and scores only gaining part-time employment.
This coupled with an increase in the prices for many consumer items has seen many families, most of them single-parent families, in that community struggling. The hamper distribution was supported by the business community from Number 2 Village, East Canje.
