A 25-year-old Police Constable is now nursing injuries about his body after he was struck down by a truck on Tuesday on the Lusignan Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Injured is Londale Todd, of Friendship, ECD, a Police Constable stationed at the Tactical Services Unit (TSU). Reports are that about 11:45h on Tuesday, Todd was riding his motorcycle west along of the southern carriageway of the Lusignan Public Road, ECD, while the motor lorry driven by a 26-year-old male of Beterverwagting, ECD, was proceeding in the same direction behind the motorcycle.
According to Police, while in the vicinity of the S&S Supermarket, Lusignan, the motor lorry struck the rear of the motorcycle. As a result, Todd was thrown off his motorcycle and fell to the roadway which caused him to receive injuries about his body.
He was subsequently picked up by public-spirited citizens, placed in a vehicle and transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was currently a patient.
The Policeman is nursing injuries to his right knee. Meanwhile, the driver of the motor lorry is in custody at the Vigilance Police Station assisting with investigations. (G8)
