Policewoman injured in Linden accident

A female Police Constable was pinned between two vehicles while attempting to cross the road, after the brakes of a car driven by a priest failed.

Injured is Constable Latisha Petri, who is in stable condition at the Linden Hospital Complex (LHC) following the accident at Republic Avenue, Mackenzie, Linden on Tuesday.

Guyana Times was told that the brakes of the priest’s car failed, causing it to crash into the rear of another car, which in turn crashed into a Police vehicle. The Policewoman was rushed to the LHC where she remained a patient.

Silver Hill accident

Meanwhile, the driver involved in the fatal accident along the Silver Hill Public Road, Linden-Soesdyke Highway on Monday, which caused the death of a pedal cyclist in the area is expected to be released on station bail, as investigations continue.

Raymond Isaacs, 21, of Silver Hill, was struck down by a hire car while riding along the Highway about 16:50h. Reports indicate that the hire car 7383, which was driven by Steven Pearson, 31, of West Watooka, Wismar, Linden, was proceeding North along the western carriageway of the Silver Hill Public Road at a fast pace, when it collided with Isaacs, who allegedly turned into its path while proceeding in the same direction. The pedal cyclist was reportedly thrown onto the western parapet and sustained severe injuries. He was then rushed to the LHC, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Pearson was taken into Police custody at Linden, where he was said to be assisting Police with investigations into the matter. A senior Police official has indicated to this newspaper that the case file is expected to be submitted for legal advice soon.
