Pomeroon farmer remanded for 2kg cocaine bust

A Pomeroon, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) farmer was remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan on a charge of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
Wayne Correria appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts to face the charge which stated that on November 20 at his Pomeroon River Landing home, he had 2.2 kilograms of cocaine in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.
The prosecution is contending that the 37-year-old man was nabbed after Police ranks, acting on information, swooped down at his home and discovered the cocaine worth $1.5 million hidden in a wooden box in his workshop.
According to the prosecution, a quantity of cocaine was also found hidden in a cooler under his bed. The illicit substance was later weighed.
Magistrate McLennan remanded him to prison. The case will continue at the Charity Magistrate’s Court on December 10, 2018.
