A 39-year-old general manager of a mining company in the Lower Pomeroon, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) was arrested by Police after he was found with a quantity of cannabis.
According to information received, Police responded to a report made by a resident that the man was discharging his firearm at Grant Maureen’so Dale, Pomeroon River.
Police then visited the premises where a search was conducted. A black plastic bag containing leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis was found. The cannabis was unearthed next to a root of a sucker plant on the man’s farm land in the vicinity of his home.
Police have since said he was told of the offence and admitted ownership, after which he was taken to the Charity Police Station where the prohibited substance was weighed and amounted to 163 grams. He will be arraigned shortly for the offence.
