Pomeroon pensioner killed by speeding minibus

A pensioner was on Friday reportedly struck down and killed by a minibus along the Charity Public Road in Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam).
The dead man has been identified as 79-year-old Choomanlall, also called “Cyril”, of David James Street, Adams Creek, Pomeroon River.

Based on reports received, Choomanlall was hit while walking along the Charity Public Road at about 10:00h on Friday, after the minibus, reportedly speeding at the time, allegedly swerved from a pothole on the roadway.
Resulting from that hit, Choomanlall sustained injuries to his body, and was picked up in an unconscious state and taken to the Oscar Joseph Hospital at Charity, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His body was subsequently taken to this Charity hospital mortuary to await a post-mortem.
The driver of the minibus has been arrested, and is assisting Police with the investigations.
