Pomeroon speedboat operator granted bail for illegal fuel

A speedboat operator from La Bonair, Lower Pomeroon River, in Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) was granted ,000 bail after she appeared before Magistrate Sunil Scarce on Monday at the Charity Magistrate’s Court charged with the possession of illegal fuel (gasoline).
The charge stated that around April 26, 2017, the speedboat operator had illegal fuel which was deemed as such since it did not contained the testified marker of concentration. The court heard that the ‘gas’ was less than one gallon.
Representing the woman was Attorney Haimraj Ramkumar who stated that his client is not a flight risk and has a permanent place of residence. The Police Prosecutor and the agent representing the Guyana Energy Agency (GEA) did not object to bail which was thereafter granted at the sum of $50,000 by Magistrate Sunil Scarce. The matter is expected to be called again on June 5. (Indra Nathram)
