“Ponzi Scheme” couple arraigned on 11 more charges

As the probe widens into the alleged “Ponzi Scheme”, Cuban national Yuri Garcia-Dominguez and his Guyanese wife, Ateeka Ishmael were on Wednesday arraigned on 11 new charges.

The couple appeared before Magistrate Dylon Bess at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court via Skype.

According to the new charges, Garcia-Dominguez and Ishmael conspired with persons known and unknown to obtain a total sum of over $75M million from the 11 persons under false pretence. The Police said the felony was committed that between May 2020 and July 2020.

They were granted bail in the sum of $3.3 million each and were represented in Court by Glen Hanoman and Dexter Todd. They will make their next court appearance on September 07.
