Pork-knocker shot in both legs by drunken man

A 24-year-old pork-knocker of Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara (ECD), is now nursing two gunshot wounds after he was shot by a drunken man at Five Star Landing, North West District, Region One (Barima-Waini).
Satesh Ramnarine was shot at about 16:30h on Thursday.
Ramnarine told Police that he had just finished his daily work and was cooking when a man who appeared to be intoxicated walked up to him and an argument ensued. The man left shortly after but about five minutes later, Ramnarine said, another colleague, who was also in the building at the time, shouted to him and told him to run.
Ramnarine said upon looking back, he noticed the intoxicated man with what appeared to be a shotgun, pointing in his direction. He said that he heard a loud explosion and felt a burning sensation and numbness on both of his legs. Police said that the man ran into an abandoned building and locked himself inside. He was assisted by public-spirited persons, who took him to the Port Kaituma Hospital, where he was admitted a patient in a stable condition. Investigations are ongoing. (G9)
