Police ranks in Port Kaituma, Region One (Barima-Waini) nabbed a 25-year-old resident in the village after he was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and matching ammunition.

It was reported that the ranks were patrolling a playground in the community, where the Mash celebrations were ongoing on Thursday, when they observed the suspect tucking an object in his waist. The officers consequently approached the man and conducted a search on his person, during which they unearthed a 9mm pistol, along with 12 live matching rounds.
After it was found that the suspect was not the holder of a firearm licence, he was arrested and taken into custody. The young man, who is a Branch Manager of a company with operations in the area, is being processed for court.
