Port Mourant Turf Club/MMP Foundation horse race meet confirmed!
– Scores Even to returns for September 29 meet
After the thrilling 13th Annual Guyana Cup horse meet, horse racing action will return to the ancient county of Berbice on Sunday September 29 at the Port Mourant Turf Club. This horse race meet has been organized in collaboration with the Mohabir Mookoorchand Persuad (M.M.P) Foundation.

The MMP Foundation has been significantly assisting the less fortunate students financially for the Caribbean Secondary Examinations Council (CSEC) examinations over the years, and this horse race event’s sole purpose is for the less fortunate students who will be sitting the 2020 CSEC exams.
This grand one-day horse-race event will see the feature purse being $1.2 million. Six exciting races are on the programme, which will feature some of the top horses around. This is the first annual Port Mourant Turf Club and MMP horse race meet. The packed day of events will open with the L Class race being run over a distance of 1000 metres.
Entry to the L Class race is $16,000 dollars, but the first prize is $160,000 while second and third place winners will be awarded $80,000 and $40,000 respectively.
In the second race of the day, horses will run 1300 metres in the H and I class event. First prize for that event is worth $300,000, while second position is worth $150,000 and third position $75,000.
Entry for the H and I class race is $30,000 per horse.
In the third event of the day, the 2 Years Old Open (Guyana bred) 1000-meter-long race will roll off; the first place prize is $260,000 while the second position prize is $130,000. Third placed horse will receive $65,000. Entries for 2 Years old horses is $26,000. In the fourth race of the day the much-anticipated 3 Years Old Guyana Bred (Winner of less than four races) will run-off at a distance of 1300 meters. The first place prize is $300,000; second placed horse will walk away with $150,000 while the horse in third position will receive $75,000.
Champion horse, Scores Even will make his grand return while other top horses are expected to thrill Port Mourant. The penultimate race of the day will by the feature event, the B and Lower 1300-meter race. Entries for horses will be $60,000 and the first prize is a purse of $1,200,000. The second position prize is $300,000 while third prize is $150,000.
This grand horserace meet will sign off with the J&K Class 1300-meter event. Entries for horses are $20,000. The first prize is $200,000, second prize is $100,000 and the third prize is #50,000. These races are being ruled under the rules of Guyana Horse Racing Rules. Five horses must start before the third prize will be paid and seven horses must start before fourth prize is paid.
If four horses start stakes will be reduced by 25%, if three horses start, stakes will be reduced by 405. The Race club reserves the right to cancel or reframe any race.
