Porter accused of stealing TVs remanded

A 48-year-old porter, who allegedly broke into a Duncan Street, Georgetown home and stole two televisions, has been remanded to prison.

Remanded: Roger Bledman

Roger Bledman was arraigned on a charge of break and enter and larceny when he appeared before Magistrate Rondel Weever at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
It is alleged that on November 4, 2021, at Duncan Street, Georgetown, he broke into the dwelling house of Amernauth Dukhi and stole two flat-screen televisions valued at $300,000. Bledman pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Police Prosecutor told the court that Dukhi secured his home and went out. However, when he returned, he noticed that the door to his home was opened and that the place was ransacked. He made further checks and observed that the televisions were missing. Dukhi then made a report at the Prashad Nagar Police.
A probe was launched and upon reviewing CCTV footage, Police ranks saw Bledman removing the televisions from the house and placing them into a car. He was later arrested and charged. He is due back in court on January 28, 2022. (G1)
