A 27-year-old porter was granted bail by Magistrate Crystal Lambert when he appeared at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court charged with trafficking in narcotics.
Rayon Morgan of Lot 121 Fourth Avenue Bartica, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni), pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him.
The two parcels of marijuana along with the 10 ecstasy pills
The charge stated that on April 24, 2020, at Itabali, Region Seven, he had 716 grams of cannabis in his possession along with 10 ecstasy pills.
Police stated that on the day in question, ranks stopped and searched motor lorry GXX 6389 at Itabali Checkpoint, Region Seven.

Morgan was told of his offence and allegedly admitted that he was aware of the contents in the box.
However, in his confession, he said that he was given the box by a taxi driver to drop off at a particular shop in the “Quartz Stone” Backdam.
He was placed on $200,000 bail and will make his next court appearance on July 17, 2020.
