Thirty-six-year-old Sheldon Chase known as “Rasta Man” of Lot 103 C Meadowbrook Gardens, Georgetown, lost his life on Thursday afternoon after he was crushed by a moving lorry at C Field Sophia, Greater Georgetown.

Dead: Sheldon Chance

Reports are the young man was employed as a porter with the Public Infrastructure Ministry for about three years now.
On Thursday Chase was on the Ministry’s truck and was struck by a telephone cable as he was standing on the moving vehicle. This caused him to fall and his leg was caught in the rear wheel of the moving truck. As such, he was pulled under the truck and crushed to death.
The dead man’s mother, Patricia Marshall-Chance, told the media that her son left for work on Thursday morning and she had no idea that she would never see him alive again.
“The only thing he does eat is fish; he like salt fish and rice and that was the last thing I cooked for him, but he ain’t even come for it,” the man’s mother said.
Marshall-Chance further added that she was sitting outside when a man arrived at her home and broke the sad news to her. She said just two weeks ago she laid her mother to rest, and it is heartbreaking that she has to prepare for the funeral of her son.
“Every morning he leaves, he says ‘Tall girl I going’ and he would always bring something home; last night (Wedneday) he bring this sugar dumpling,” the grieving mother said.
His body was taken to Lyken Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem. The driver of the truck was detained and is assisting with investigations.
