Porter dies as garbage truck crashes into trench

In an early morning crash, a labourer tragically lost his life after a garbage truck, owned by Puran Brothers Inc, veered into a nearby slush-filled drain in the vicinity of Cullen Public Road, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam).
Dead is 33-year-old Angel Jesus Azocar Rodriguez of Reliance, Essequibo Coast.
Reports are that the incident occurred at about 05:30h on Saturday morning.
According to information reaching Guyana Times, the truck, GAE 4065, driven by 45-year-old Rambeer Singh, was proceeding north on the western driving lane at a fast rate of speed when Singh lost control of the vehicle and it plunged into a nearby drain.

Additional information revealed that 39-year-old Govji Daniels, a porter of Richmond; Aiasiah Latchman, 26, a bill checker, of Lot 66 Pomona Housing Scheme, and the labourer, Rodriguez, were in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
According to a release from Pooran Brothers Inc at about 04:30h on Saturday morning the group of men left the Bush Lot office and were heading to Suddie Public Hospital to pick up garbage.
However, while negotiating a turn, Singh lost control of the vehicle and subsequently veered into a nearby trench along the Cullen Public Road.
The release also disclosed that three occupants managed to free themselves, but unfortunately, Rodriguez was pinned inside the cabin of the truck.
He was pulled out of the vehicle in an unconscious state and rushed to the Suddie Public Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The driver of the vehicle is currently in custody assisting with the investigation. (G12)
