A post-mortem examination conducted on the body of 25-year-old Jovon Jommol Anthony, the porter who was crushed to death by a container truck in Linden on Saturday has given the cause of death as multiple crushing injuries. The examination was performed by Government Pathologist, Dr Nehaul Singh at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) mortuary on Monday.
Anthony, of 44 Prince Williams Street, Plaisance, East Coast Demerara (ECD), died after he was pinned under the truck on which he was working, in the vicinity of the Karakara toll booth and the Guyana Forestry Commission at Mackenzie, Linden.
The incident occurred at about 13:00h. Inquiries disclosed that the motor lorry, driven by 28-year-old Floyd Rodney of 121 Ogle Street, Triumph, ECD, was at the time proceeding along the Karakara public road with Anthony on board. He was later pronounced dead on the spot by a doctor attached to the Linden Hospital Complex. Police who were summoned to the scene have since launched an investigation into the incident.
