The relatives of Timothy Fraser, 44, whose body was fished out of the Mazaruni River on Sunday, will have to wait a bit longer to know his cause of death since the post-mortem, which was scheduled for Monday, was postponed.
Valarie Fraser, mother of the now dead man, told Guyana Times that the post-mortem was now set for Wednesday. She could not say why it was postponed.
The body of Fraser, of Savannah Park Housing Scheme, New Amsterdam, was discovered one day after he reportedly went missing. The mother is holding out that the family is being told conflicting stories and as such, the results of the post-mortem are necessary to determine if foul play was involved in the man’s death.
Based on reports gathered, the welder went missing on Saturday from his place of employment. It was initially reported that he was dressed in his welding outfit and was waiting on a boat to collect him at a landing, but after some time he went for a swim.
His colleagues explained that when the boat arrived, several pieces of his clothing were seen, but there was no sight of the man.
Another account was that Fraser went to another location to work. And finally, the third version of what occurred stated that the young man was sitting on a boat when he fell overboard and was not seen since.
The Police are waiting on the results of the post-mortem to determine whether or not they should investigate the man’s death as a homicide.
