…Ann’s Grove United register comfortable win over River’s View
Potaro Strikers Football Club (FC) made a remarkable start to their campaign in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Women’s Division One League, registering a commanding 20-0 victory over Monedderlust FC as the 2026/27 season kicked off at the National Training Centre (NTC), Providence, on Friday.
The Lady Strikers delivered the most convincing result of the opening matchday, overwhelming their opponents to announce their arrival in the competition.

Potaro, one of ten clubs competing in this season’s league, showed their attacking strength in a one-sided encounter that saw Monedderlust unable to find a response.
The emphatic victory puts Potaro in a strong position at the beginning of their campaign as they look to establish themselves among the country’s leading women’s football clubs.
Meanwhile, Ann’s Grove United FC also enjoyed a successful opening outing, recording a 3-0 victory over River’s View FC at the same venue.
Ann’s Grove secured all three points with a convincing performance, keeping a clean sheet while making a positive start to the new season.
The two results marked the opening round of a competition that will feature ten clubs battling for the championship and a $1 million grand prize.

Defending champions Guyana Defence Force FC are among the participating teams, alongside Guyana Police Force FC, Fruta Conquerors, Santos, Monedderlust, Ann’s Grove United, Den Amstel, Western Tigers, River’s View, and newcomers Potaro Strikers.
The 2026/27 Women’s Division One League is being played under a nine-a-side format, with matches scheduled over a six-month period.
The competition forms part of the GFF’s efforts to provide regular competitive football for female players while supporting the continued development of the women’s game locally.
