Police in D Division (West Demerara) are currently probing the death of a West Bank Demerara (WBD) man, whose lifeless body was found on Monday morning on the Harlem Public Road on the West Coast of Demerara.
The dead man has been identified as Seecharran Lall of Coghlan Dam, Pouderoyen, WBD.
Divisional Commander Leslie James confirmed on Tuesday that the Police were treating the matter as a hit-and-run accident. However, relatives of the now dead man believe that he was murdered since apparent marks of violence were found on his body.
Lall was last seen alive on Sunday evening in Crane, WBD, where he was imbibing with relatives. He subsequently left for home and boarded a short-drop taxi, but never arrived at his destination.
The driver reportedly told relatives that he dropped Lall back to the spot where he picked him up, but did not offer any explanation why.
Meanwhile, no one has been arrested in connection with Lall’s death. Nevertheless, investigations are ongoing.
