Power-lifters excel at Intermediate/Masters Championships

An impressive display of exceptional strength was recorded this past Sunday when the Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation (GAPLF) hosted its Masters and Intermediate Championships at the St. Stanislaus College on Sunday.

masters 66kg division, pressing some 120kg and deadlifting 160kg. Taharally bench-pressed 70kg, squatted 135kg, and deadlifted 165kg to rack up a total of 370 Wilkes points and set her new record. Runita White, also from Buddy’s Gym, managed to deadlift 195lbs in the 84+ kg class, thus setting a new junior record. She starred in the 84+kg class, squatting 165kg, bench pressing 67.5kg and deadlifting 195.0 kg.
