Powerlifting action returns on Sunday at Thirst Park

This Sunday (May 7)  the Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation (GAPF) will host its Intermediate and Masters Athletes championships at the Banks DIH, Thirst  Park commencing from 09:00hrs.

Some intense action is expected from all lifter come Sunday at Thirst Park

According to Public Relations Officer / Organising Secretary of  GAPF, Osmond Mack, the weigh-in for athletes will start from 07:00hrs and last until 08:30hrs on competition day for female participants and the lighter weight classes.
Mack has expressed gratitude to Fitness Express, a sports supplements and exercise equipment supplier, for once again showing its support for powerlifting development having come on board as the marquee sponsor of the championships.
At a simple handing over of the sponsorship cheque to the federation, Jamie McDonald, Owner of Fitness Express said he was more than pleased to be partnering with eth federation for another year.
Athletes who would have competed at the Novice championships are welcomed to participate at the Intermediates and can also compete as both Masters and Open athletes or Juniors/Sub-Juniors and Open, based on their respective ages.
Athletes are being reminded that the current IPF Rules regarding athletes’ attire will be in full effect including the Singlet 4? Belt and Round Neck T-Shirt (Plain).
Lifters are also being urged to see 2016 IPF Rules for further details on requirements for both Equipped and Classic Lifting.
