PPP/C launches 2018 Bartica LGE team

The People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) Bartica Local Government Election (LGE) team will be presenting its 28 candidates to the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) Bartica Office on Nomination Day (today).
Having consulted Barticians in all nine constituencies through either house-to-house or community meetings, the PPP/C Bartica LGE team has produced a list of nine constituency candidates that reflect gender, youth and experience.
Women, and young women, are featured on the list of PPP/C Proportional Representation candidates. It was found that of the 28 PR candidates, 15 are female and 13 are male, with 35 per cent being under the age of 35 years of age.
In a statement to the media on Thursday afternoon, the Party said Barticians have seen their township go into a slump with the decline in gold mining, construction and tourism industries.
“Jobs are very scarce and the cost of living has increased, thanks to the imposition of 200 new taxes by the APNU/AFC coalition Government,” the release stated.
