Under clear skies on the West side of Berbice, the West Berbice giants, Blairmont, took first strike. The Blairmont team consisted of national youth players Javed Karim, Seon Glasgow, Marvan Prashad and Nigel Deodat. They amassed 313 runs in 40 overs.
The classy right handed Marvan Prashad and the elegant Seon Glasgow both scored centuries. Prashad top scored with a breathtaking 104 while Glasgow hit a punchy 103. Wasim Inshan supported with 37.
In reply, Cotton Tree fell for 193 all out in 23.1 overs. Left arm spinner Nigel Deodat destroyed the Cotton Tree team. Pooran Persaud, 46, and Harry Narine, 42, scored runs for Cotton Tree in a losing effort.
The Guyana under 17 spinner grabbed 5-24 while Javid Karim took 2-30 and Zameer Nazeer had 2-20. Blairmont completed a comprehensive 120-run defeat of Cotton Tree.

Ameer Rahaman and his Rose Hall Canje team mates were brilliant with ball in hand

overs. Opening batsman Devandra Ramkishun led the way with a defiant half-century. Ramkishun hit three sixes and four boundaries in his maiden half century. Veteran batsman Balram Samaroo hit a timely 41 that included two sixes and one four, while hard hitting opening batsman Sasenarine Sukhu chipped in with 31. Kristoff Bahadur also filled his boots with 34 valuable runs. Bowling for Edinburgh, S Nicholson, with 3-27, was the best bowler on show.
In reply, the Edinburgh Cricket Club boys were bowled out for 130, with only Jerome Andrews hitting a classy 49 in vain. Off-spinner Ameer Rahaman led the way with the ball, picking up 4-20 from his eight overs, while Charran Singh had 3-31 from his 8 overs and Kristoff Bahadur picked up 2-11 in a complete bowling performance. Rose Hall Canje will now advance to the quarter finals of the BCB NBS Second Division 40 Over tournament. (Brandon Corlette)
