“Prem Ratan Dhan Payo” to be screened at ICC this Saturday

The general public is invited to view the 2015 romantic film “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo” (Found a Treasure Called Love) on Saturday, commencing 16:30h at the Indian Cultural Centre located at Lot 67 New Haven, Bel Air, Georgetown.
In the film, which was nominated for several awards, Yuvraj Vijay Singh, played by Salman Khan, is a stubborn prince, who is engaged to be married to a princess, Maithili, played by Sonam Kapoor.
Prem, also played by Salman Khan, falls in love with the princess, while the real prince is held captive by his sibling. Family members intervene to stop the marriage and to get their hands on the money.
The resulting story is a mix of music, comedy, fighting and tears which has won some awards. It was directed by Sooraj Baratya.
The film was released in India and Pakistan on November 12, 2015 and merged as a commercial success. It ranks among the highest-grossing Bollywood films, with a gross of US$62 million worldwide.
The movie was reportedly inspired by the South Korean movie “Masquerade”, which itself was loosely based on the novel The Prisoner of Zenda by Anthony Hope.
