Pres Ali congratulates Archibald for securing bronze medal at ISG

One day after securing Guyana’s second medal at the sixth Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, President Dr Irfaan Ali has congratulated Emanuel Archibald, who placed an overall third in the men’s long jump.
President Ali, on his social media platform, stated, “Emanuel continues to inspire with every performance.”
The Guyanese athlete secured a bronze medal in the men’s long jump at the Prince Faisal Bin Fahad Stadium on Wednesday evening. He leaped to 7.56m, adding a proud moment for Guyana on the international stage.
The competition was won by Uzbekistan’s Anvar Anvarov, who soared to the gold medal with an impressive leap of 8.09m. Amath Faye of Senegal took the silver, delivering a strong performance with a jump of 7.86m to round out the podium.
Guyana’s first medal at the games was won by Keliza Smith in the 200m. She crossed the line in 11.59s for third place, finishing behind Edidiong Odiong (11.17s) and Kolle Etame Tonjock (11.38s), who claimed gold and silver, respectively.
