President attends CSME Sub-Committee Meeting in Barbados
As teachers continue a countrywide strike in demand for a 40 per cent salary increase, President David Granger has travelled to Barbados where he participated in the Ninth Meeting of the Prime Ministerial Sub-Committee on the Caribbean Single Market and Economy (CSME) on Wednesday.
The meeting, which was held in Bridgetown, was convened to discuss and make

decisions which are aimed at hastening the movement towards a single market and economy within the Caribbean Community (Caricom).
The Sub- Committee, of which President Granger is a member, was chaired by recently elected Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley.
The meeting saw discussions on a wide range of CSME-related issues, including the role of the private sector and labour in the CSME, facilitation of travel, the free movement of persons, contingent rights, and the proposed establishment of single registration for companies.
