President to return to Cuba in 90 days for another medical check-up
After undergoing medical evaluation in Cuba earlier this week, President David Granger was advised by his doctors to return in 90 days for a further medical check-up.
The Head of State departed Guyana with First Lady Sandra Granger on Saturday last and returned on Tuesday evening.
He is being treated at the Centro de Investigaciones Medico Quirurgicas (CIMEQ) in Havana, Cuba, for Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and healthcare professionals have expressed satisfaction with his current condition.
In a statement from the Ministry of the Presidency, it was stated that four examinations were conducted during this most recent visit, which lacked any negative indications about the President’s health. As such, he was advised by doctors to return after 90 days for another evaluation.
“The President’s team of medical specialists undertook four investigations and have expressed satisfaction with the results and indeed his recovery process. They have found nothing negative about his state of present health and, in keeping with the treatment and monitoring of this type of medical condition, the specialists have proposed that he returns to Cuba after 90 days for another round of evaluation,” the statement said.
On October 30, 2018, the President and First Lady Sandra Granger travelled to Cuba for him to undergo medical tests after he had complained of feeling ill. Days later, he was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He has since been receiving treatment for the condition.
