Two Presidential Guards were injured on Thursday morning after heavy winds dislodged a guard hut in which they were stationed.
A statement from President Dr Irfaan Ali informed that the incident occurred at his Leonora, West Coast Demerara (WCD) residence. Information suggests that the two guards were stationed in the structure when high winds dislodged it.
A team was immediately dispatched to access the situation, and the injured ranks were taken for medical treatment. They were later transferred to a private institution for further care.
The Head of State has reassured that their injuries are not life-threatening.
“While I have been assured that their injuries are not life-threatening, I will personally check in with the ranks following Cabinet meeting today (Thursday). I wish them a speedy recovery,” the President has said.
