President’s schoolboys’ futsal: West Ruimveldt Sec among 4 teams to face off in semi-finals after explosive quarter-finals

The schoolboys’ division of the One Guyana-Kashif and Shanghai President’s Futsal Championship delivered an action-packed day of football on Saturday as the quarter-finals took centre stage at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, with four schools booking their places in the semi-finals after impressive performances.
In the opening quarter-final, New Central High School produced a commanding display to defeat Annandale Secondary 3-0.
Danger Michael opened the scoring in the ninth minute, setting the tone early. Caedon White doubled the advantage in the 15th minute, before Peter Khan sealed the win with a well-taken goal in the 27th minute.

Futsal action at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall

The second encounter saw Westminster Secondary School overcome Hope Secondary School 3-1 in a competitive clash. Westminster took the lead in the 15th minute through an own goal by Hope Secondary goalkeeper Oswald Duke.
Ezekiel Caesar extended the lead in the 23rd minute, but Hope responded through Quashaun Campbell in the 25th minute to keep the contest alive. Any hopes of a comeback were dashed when Nickille Watson struck in the 28th minute to secure the victory for Westminster.
A dominant performance followed in game three as West Ruimveldt Secondary dismantled St John’s College 6-0. Jeremiah Griffith was the star of the match, with goals in the 2nd, 15th and 16th minutes, before adding another in the 23rd minute to complete the rout.
Donovan Welcome scored in the 11th minute, while Dellon Philadelphia added his name to the scoresheet in the 22nd minute.
In the final quarter-final, Dolphin Secondary showcased their attacking prowess with a convincing 4-0 win over VYC Academy. Christenson Daudinot opened the scoring in the 2nd minute, followed by Tyler Abrams in the 10th. Sean Grant found the net in the 15th minute, and Christian Sam rounded off the scoring in the 26th minute.
With their victories, New Central High, Westminster Secondary, West Ruimveldt Secondary, and Dolphin Secondary have all advanced to the semi-finals, which are scheduled to be played on Tuesday.
