Barbados Pride are the leaders of the Regional 4-Day Championships with 108.2 points after six rounds. Pride recorded five wins and suffered one defeat while the five-time defending champions, Guyana Jaguars are 29.2 points behind Pride, with 79 points. In the six rounds played by Jaguars, they have recorded three wins, two defeats, and one draw.
Jaguars will now play the bottom placed Leeward Islands Hurricanes from Thursday, March 5 at the Guyana National Stadium from 09:30h. Jamaica Scorpions are in third position with 61.2 points while Windward Islands Volcanoes are in fourth with 56.8 points. Trinidad and Tobago Red Force are fifth with 54.8 points while Hurricanes have 40.4 points.
In the batting department, the experienced Kyle Mayers has the most runs after six rounds.
Mayers has 579 runs with two centuries and five half-centuries to his name. Regional superstar Devon Smith is second in the runs with 495 runs while the urgent Jermaine Blackwood is in third with 450 runs. Shayne Moseley has 449 runs while Kaveem Hodge has 409 runs. Joshua Da Silva has 389 runs and Guyana players Christopher Barnwell and Leon Johnson have 376 and 362 runs respectively.
Veerasammy Permaul leads the wicket charts by 15 wickets. The left-arm spinner has 45 wickets in six matches this season, recording three five-wicket hauls, including a best innings haul of 8-18 and a best match haul of 15-77. Red Force’s left-arm spinner, Akeal Hosein has 30 wickets for second position while Pride pacer Chemar Holder has 29 scalps.
Keon Harding has 28 wickets followed by Rahkeem Cornwall with 23 victims. Kemar Roach has 21 wickets in only four matches while Nial Smith has 19 wickets. Jaguars wicketkeeper-batsman Anthony Bramble has the most dismissals with 22 while Shane Dowrich has 21. (Brandon Corlette)
