The Barbados Pride completed day two of the WICB Regional 4-day Championship battle against defending champions Guyana Jaguars with the better prospects of winning the game, being played at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.

With a score of 239-3 replying to the Jaguars’ first innings total of 209, Pride are now ahead by 30 runs heading into the penultimate day. Overnight in the middle are Jonathan Carter and Kyle Mayers, on 61 and 36 respectively.
Guyana started day two on 209-3, but Chemar Holder immediately removed Nial Smith for 17 and Keon Joseph without scoring, leaving Tagenarine Chanderpaul with unfortunately no chance of improving his score of 66, his unbeaten innings having been crafted from 280 deliveries, in which he had struck eight boundaries.
For his efforts, Holder was added to the list of Bajan wicket-takers. Kemar Roach led the attack with 4-28; while Holder, Carter, and Jomel Warrican each claimed two wickets.
In day two’s morning session, the Guyanese bowlers were made to toil by Kraigg Brathwaite and Sheyne Moseley. Brathwaite was the chief scorer for the patient opening pair, but he was the first to depart, being caught by Chandrapaul Hemraj off the bowling of Nial Smith for 40 runs.
Shamarh Brooks entered with the score at 69-1, and made 10 before being dismissed with the score on 96.
Carter, the next in, made sure he upped the scoring while Moseley at the other end fatigued the bowlers. Having scored 46, Moseley retired hurt with cramps in his arms after facing 158 deliveries.
Shane Dowrich, who replaced him, played some attractive strokes for his 25, before becoming Veersammy Permaul’s first victim.
Mayers entered, and had enough skill to anchor the other end while scoring consistently. When the umpires called stumps, Carter had faced 159 balls for his 61, while Mayers had taken 59 delivers to accumulate 36 runs, which included 5 boundaries and a maximum.
Raymon Reifer, Smith and Permaul each ended the day with a wicket.
Day three commences at 10:00 hrs today.
