– Volcanoes holding firm against Scorpions
Roshon Primus was outstanding during his first outing after returning from injury, scoring an aggressive half century before taking three wickets to give Trinidad and Tobago Red Force the edge at the end of day one in their ninth round clash against Barbados Pride yesterday at Kensington Oval in Barbados.
Primus struck 60 from 80 deliveries to help Red Force record a first innings score of 196 all out before returning to take 3-3 and Pride reeling at 25-5 at the close.
The all-rounder who batted at seven accounted for eight fours and two sixes and scored majority of the runs for his team since he entered at 122-5.Isaiah Rajah was the next best batsman with 38 while Amir Jangoo made 32.
Fast bowler Justin Greaves was impressive with figures of 3-29 from 15.1 overs but it was medium fast bowler Kevin Stoute, who led with 4-51 for the hosts.
Meanwhile, in the other match at the end of day two, Jamaica Scorpions have a slim lead of 82 over Windward Volcanoes, with two wickets remaining in their second innings with Fabian Allen unbeaten on 72 and skipper Nikita Miller and Jerome Taylor the remaining batsmen at Arnos Vale in St. Vincent.
Scorpions are 249-8 a much better performance from their paltry first innings score of 56 all out, where it took just two bowlers, Kyle Mayers 6-29 and Delorn Johnson 4-26 in just 19.4 overs, to destroy them. Off spinner Shane Shillingford has so far claimed five of their second innings wickets.
Volcanoes declared at 223-9 in their first innings after Devon Smith made an even unbeaten century and Andre Fletcher supported with 57. Miller took 5-57.
